    Scope of Job
    Develop, coordinate, and administer contracts for products and/or services for one or more defined operating entities within the


    UTRGV
    (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) School of Medicine and UT Health/
    UTRGV
    organizational structure.

    Negotiate, extend, and renegotiate contracts as appropriate; serving as primary point of liaison with contractors, monitoring existing contracts for compliance with terms and conditions.

    Description of Duties


    • Negotiates, establishes, and administers contractual arrangements for

    UTRGV

    SOM
    (School of Medicine) Legal Affairs.


    • Coordinates and facilitates contract executions.
    • Evaluates or monitors contractor performance to determine compliance to contractual obligations and the necessity for amendments and/or extensions of contracts.
    • Analyzes and provides guidance on internal and/or contractor requests for deviations from contract specifications and delivery schedules.
    • Prepares standard renewals, amendments, and addendums for

    • Provides comprehensive reporting on all

    SOM
    contracts as needed.


    • Maintains contracts database.
    • Provides guidance, training and support to

    SOM
    staff related to contracts.


    • Serves as a primary liaison with contracting representatives to ensure compliance with contract specifications and resolution of problems and issues, as they arise; arbitrates claims or complaints occurring in performance of contracts.
    • Continually monitors and evaluates contractor performance against contract specifications and recommends appropriate action, as necessary.
    • May assist and/or provide input into the formulation, development, and/or revision of operating policies, procedures, and strategies for the organization, including process improvement opportunities, as appropriate.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Required Education
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited University.
    Preferred Education
    None.
    Licenses/Certifications
    Texas Contract Developer (or a similar certification) or ability to obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire.
    Required Experience
    Two (2) years experience in management, administration or preparation of contracts, or in purchasing or procurement.

    Equipment
    Standard office equipment including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and e-mail software.
    Working Conditions
    Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Fast-paced office environment. May work some evenings and/or weekends.

    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.


    UTRGV
    is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment across the Rio Grande Valley.

    Must possess knowledge and thorough understanding of principles of general procurement practices, Uniform Commercial Code, and overall sound business practices.

    Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations regarding commercial contracts. Ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures, formulate logical and objective conclusions from facts/situations/data/observations. Ability to work cooperatively in an effective manner with a diverse group of people while exercising diplomacy and confidentiality. Must be able to multi-task priorities and projects in order to meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on presentational and interpersonal communication are desired.
