Job summary
The patient service technician (PST) performs specimen collection by both venipuncture and capillary puncture,specimen labeling, and specimen processing.
The PST verifies accuracy and quality of specimens collected
and dispatches specimens to appropriate testing locations
and performs training of others in these techniques.
May also perform point of care testing;
ensures accuracy of results
- Gathers complete patient information necessary to complete
the registration - Follows policy for chain of custody record keeping
