    Job Title

    Accounts Receivable Specialist

    The primary responsibility of this role is to resolve patient account balances with insurance payers. This involves working online with payer websites for inquiries and telephone follow up to ensure proper reimbursement is received for provider services billed.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support patients and authorized representatives regarding their accounts over the phone and in-office as applicable.
    • Follow up on all outstanding insurance claims at 60 days from the date of billing, following established guidelines.
    • Provide information on billing, coding, managed care networks, insurance carriers, and reimbursement to providers, client staff, and colleagues.
    • Follow up on returned claims, correspondence, denials, account reconciliations, and rebills to achieve maximum reimbursement in a timely manner, emphasizing timely resolution.
    • Recommend accounts for adjustments based on department guidelines.
    • Monitor reimbursement from managed care networks and insurance carriers to ensure it is consistent with contracted rates.
    • Respond to inquiries from client staff regarding billing issues.
    • Utilize payer websites and eligibility portals to check claim status and efficiently conduct accounts receivable follow-up to maximize revenue.
    • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and Medicare regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum 3 years' experience in accounts receivable and prior experience working in a medical billing office.
