- Serve as the primary nurse assigned to the Emergency Department.
- Collect assessment data regarding the physical and emotional status of patients to include vital signs, electrocardiogram, pulse oximeter readings and visual acuity.
- Closely observe monitors and related equipment to ensure provision of complete observation to patients.
- Teach and notify patients of necessary preparation and medication to be administered prior to treatment.
- Prepare patients for administer oral, sublingual, nebulized and inhalation, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, to all age groups.
- Direct patient care responsibility for up to four patients; plan and coordinate care with Emergency Department staff physician and charge Nurse.
- Set up and operate auxiliary equipment; change dressing; apply splint or cast material; perform and monitor ECGs suctioning, bladder catheterization; etc.
- Retrieve laboratory and radiological result and assist in maintaining workload data.
