- Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review and update treatment goals and referrals both internally and externally.
- Evaluates clients regarding their need for psychotropic medication and prescribes medication when appropriate.
- Performs psychiatric evaluations, as requested by other staff members, for purposes of diagnosis and for treatment planning.
- Conducts crisis intervention/evaluation/referral to persons who present themselves at the program.
- Consults with staff regarding clients not necessarily seen directly by the psychiatrist. This will include, but is not limited to, cases in which psychiatric supervision is necessary for insurance purposes.
- Graduation from an LCME-accredited or ECFMG-accredited medical schoolrequired.
- Minimum of four years of Graduate Medical Education in a psychiatric residency training in a program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Educationrequired.
- Board eligible, or initial and continuing Board certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, or other board certification entity required.
- Current active license from the State of Illinois as a Physician; or a letter from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation stating that the application for licensure endorsement has been approved, with receipt of Illinois license following within six months of initial application date for endorsement required.
- Current active and unrestricted Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) from the State of Illinoisrequired.
- Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)required.

Our Psychiatristsserve our community by providing direct clinical care of clients, including evaluation, prescribing of medications as appropriate, development of treatment plans, and ordering of lab tests at one or more clinical facilities in the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center.

This location is a qualified NHSC Loan Repayment Programsite.
As such, staff working at this site are eligible to apply for up to $25,000 a year in student loan repayments.
As a public health department, we believe in the science, data, and power of vaccines, like the influenza vaccine, to protect against and prevent illness.
