    Job Summary:


    The Department of Health Policy has an opening for a dynamic Academic Research Budget Analyst with strong accounting expertise to provide support to finance, grants and contracts, and payroll administration.

    The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and demonstrates extraordinary attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving skill with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a helpful and courteous manner.

    Extremely organized and efficient, excellent communication and works well both independently and as a team player.
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


    • Prepare and process financial transactions
    • Review and submit requisitions related to grants and contracts
    • Create unique and often complex reports; make projections and recommendations using historical data and applicable guidelines
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for a range of budgets and projects
    • Manage suppliers, purchase orders, invoices and encumbrances
    • Regularly research, analyze, and reconcile data for accuracy and trends; identify, research and resolve discrepancies and variances
    • Manage departmental repositories
    • Assist with the submission and management of faculty and staff effort
    • Partners with department leadership to resolve and communicate budgetary issues
    • Serves as a resource on matters related to budgets and financial reports, requisitions and subcontracts
    • Supports department leadership with special projects as needed
    • Other responsibilities as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications:

    Required:


    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum of 36 months of relevant experience
    • Knowledge of spreadsheets and budget analyst skills
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Strong initiative; must be a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision
    • Critical thinking abilities
    • Strong customer service w/the ability to work well with a team
    • Excellent oral communication skills

    • Academic financial experience
    • Strong experience with accounting and financial responsibilities

    NOTE:

    This position will offer remote, work-from-home opportunities, but you should be flexible to work in our Nashville, TN office periodically.

    The team generally reports to the office on Tuesdays. Other times, work generally will be from home, though flexibility is expected. .

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Analyze and prepare budgetary data for department budget, including rate projections and personnel salary/wage data.
