    Department: Massachusetts Migrant Education Program

    Title: English Language Instructor

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Reports to: State Program Director

    Purpose: Supports individual and group learning for academic and summer term program sessions

    Essential Functions:

    • Under the direction of the OSY Coordinator, support your caseload of students in the advancement of their English proficiency and other academic goals
    • Keep track of students attendance and progress
    • Communicate with the OSY Coordinator about students progress and needs

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Participate in curriculum training when relevant
    • Participate in internal MMEP program trainings when relevant

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 2+ years work experience in teaching high school aged English Language Learners
    • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required
    • Comfortable with learning and social media platforms (Whatsapp, Google Classroom, Google Meet)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Valid/Current Massachusetts Teacher Certification and or TESOL Certification
    • Three (3) years experience in teaching/instruction

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to multi-task and respond to demanding job duties with a positive mindset
    • Must be able to communicate and converse effectively with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures in Spanish
    • Position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
    • Ability to provide teaching and learning through Google Classroom, Meet, and/or Zoom as well as other blended learning tools and software technologies

    Work Conditions:

    • Requires working a flexible schedule including evenings, to accommodate student schedule
    • Employees are expected to follow CES Workplace Safety Standards and required COVID-19 prevention and mitigation protocols.
    • May require travel and meeting students in the community (if teaching in-person)

    Terms of Employment:

    • Part-time; 10-15 hours a week, hours are dependent on program needs
    • $25-30/hour

    We are looking for folks who want to work Sunday afternoon/evenings in particular.
