- Full-Time - 36 hours per week (3, 12-hour shifts)

- This unit specializes in providing care to patients with cardiac & neurological conditions.
- Frequent interdisciplinary collaboration between other healthcare professionals and essential services departments.

- Coffee bar located in employee lounge.
- Activities of Daily Living - bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients.
- Point of Care testing - blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, etc.
- Telemetry monitor application/reapplication, HAC & PSI prevention (TEDs/SCDs).
- Simple dressings, placement and removal of restraints, bladder scan, all specimen collections and ticket to ride.
- At least four of the following BU identified tasks: phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, or IV catheter removal.
- Suggests and supports departmental projects/changes and quality initiatives within the unit.
- Participates in project and committee work.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the health care team.
- Demonstrate understanding of cultural diversity, horizontal violence and impairment in the health professions.
- Strictly adheres to all policies and procedures relative to patient care and hospital related information.
- Complies with safety policies and procedures including standard precautions.
- Performs assigned work in a timely and productive manner. Completes department clerical functions as needed.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- In addition to the required standard competencies, the Patient Care Technician will achieve and maintain competency and/or perform at least 1 or more of the following advanced skills based on department operational need: phlebotomy/venipuncture, peripheral IV removal, indwelling Foley catheter removal, basic arrythmia, 12-lead EKG, and NG tubes clamping and removal.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Position Summary:
Unit Description / Highlights:
The Patient Care Technician - Senior (PCT) performs a variety of patient care duties including assisting with patient procedures and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients.
In addition, the Patient Care Technician - Senior is responsible for completing medical record documentation in accordance with established procedures & ensuring equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate departments.
This role contributes to the universal unit activities such as responding to call lights, telephones, passing meal trays, and adhering to all safety policies/procedures relative to patient care and hospital related information.
Establishing professional relationships and utilizing effective communication with patients, their families, colleagues, and other departments is vital for this role.
The Patient Care Technician also provides feedback to the RN regarding patient care, reports changes in patient status, and provides instruction to patients and their families under the direction of the RN.

b) 1 year of experience (defined above) and enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with completion of at least one clinical rotation,
OR
c) 1 year of experience (defined above) and completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.

Qualifications:
Annual completion of a professional contribution to be determined after hire.
Successful completion of patient care technician senior class.
Successful completion of basic information system training.
Microcomputer experience preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Nursing Student that has completed one clinical rotation preferred Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
May, in the course of their duties, be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS preferred
