    Hartford Healthcare is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join the General Surgery team at Backus Hospital.

    You will be an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for a wide variety of surgical patients encompassing numerous subspecialties including elective and emergency general surgery, trauma, colorectal, bariatrics, vascular, thoracic and neurosurgery.

    Our surgery PAs are involved in all aspects of surgical care such as managing surgical inpatients, admissions and consultations, operative first-assist, and bedside procedures.


    Inpatient, general surgery

    Schedule:
    Full-time, three 12-13 hour shifts/week. Rotating days/nights, weekends/holidays

    Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

    In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
