Mercy Flights is accepting applications for a part-time Staff Accountant.

Position Information:

Staff Accountant will get a broad range of accounting experience related to the financial and accounting functions of the Organization, which include, but are not limited to, accounts payable; payroll; preparing journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual close; bank reconciliations; and other related activities.

Hours: 0.5 FTE – hours/week (exempt), Monday – Friday
Starting Pay rate: market comparable (Depending on Qualifications)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reviews general ledger accounts. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting journal entries as well as accruals. Ensures transactions result in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Performs account analyses and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, such as bank reconciliations.
Works closely with other staff members to review all procedures related to financial transactions.
Assists department leaders on various financial transactions and topics as needed to provide solutions.
Supports and serves as back up to the accounts payable process including accurately coding and entering invoices, processing payments, communicating with vendors, and reconciling vendor statements, and collaborating with internal staff and managers.
Review and approve invoices for proper documentation and account codes.
Assists and serves as back up to the bi-weekly payroll process including auditing and computing time clock records, entering payroll and insurance deductions, and other related payroll tasks

Qualification Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
A minimum of three (3) years of direct accounting experience is required.
Experience with NetSuite software is a plus
Must have solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Knowledgeable in personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel including spreadsheets (intermediate to advanced Excel) and general ledger processing software
Advanced accounting concepts and theory
Ability to work independently while maintaining proactive communication with direct supervisor
Must be a strong team player and have excellent communication skills along with the ability to work with others.
