- Clean and maintain all ARC areas to include: the Main Building, the Health and Fitness Building, the Arts and Crafts Building, the outdoor pool area, the Pickleball Courts and the ARC grounds. This includes cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and locker rooms, filling and stocking supplies, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, moping and disposing of trash.
- Maintain both pools, sauna, and hot tub to include cleaning and vacuuming. Maintain proper chemical balance and water levels in the ARC pools and spa.
- Clean and straighten the areas around the pools, spa, and grounds.
- Set up the Main Hall, lobby, or other designated location for ARC events per specifications provided by the ARC Activities Coordinator. Take down tables and chairs after an event and clean the area to return it to original condition prior to an event.
- Immediately correct any items that prove to be a hazard to ARC members and guests. Assist the Front Desk Attendant with assisting ARC members and guests in the event of an emergency.
- Perform light repairs of equipment and fixtures throughout the ARC.
- Secure buildings by locking/unlocking doors and gates and checking all building doors/windows for security,
- Additional duties indoors and outdoors as directed by supervisor.
- Must be customer service oriented and able to work with ARC members and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must be able to follow a daily work schedule and adapt to adjustments as required by the Maintenance Manager.
- Able to work with hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems a plus.
- Experience working with pool systems. Knowledge of all state rules pertaining to pool entities. CPO (Certified Pool Operator) License a plus.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning sanitizing solutions. Must be detailed oriented and thorough in all duties.
- Must be able to provide support for the Front Desk Attendant in the event of an emergency or complication with ARC members. (AED and First Aid training provided by the ARC).
- Prolong periods of standing. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 75 pounds at time. Must be able to properly remove the pool vacuums from the indoor and outdoor pools.

Job DescriptionThe Ahwatukee Recreation Center (ARC) is a 55 years or older community in Phoenix, Arizona. The ARC has an active community center with an Indoor Pool, an Outdoor Pool, Pickleball Courts, a Fitness Center, and an Arts & Crafts Building. We are currently seeking a part-time Janitorial /Maintenance Worker to join our maintenance team in providing for the proper care and upkeep of our active facility.
This position will perform duties as required to maintain the ARC facilities. Employees are expected to appear for work as dictated by the ARC Maintenance Schedule. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Hours/Days
Saturday 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Sunday 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
The employee will be required to work weekdays during the training period.
