    Position Summary

    The Associate Dean, Student Advising is responsible for spearheading all advising activities and related services provided by the College of Arts & Science (CAS) Office of Student Advising. The Associate Dean directs a team of 25 plus Assistant Deans, Directors, Assistant Directors, Advisors, and support staff who provide academic advising support and career counseling to 9,000 plus undergraduate students in the CAS annually. The Associate Dean will have a high degree of understanding and the ability to interpret the academic policies that guide students to degree completion. The Associate Dean also directs all programs and services that promote student retention and success in the College curriculum and serves as a liaison and subject matter expert to academic departments for specialty advising, as needed. The Associate Dean will liaise with University offices and advising deans to manage cross school collaborations, student success and retention best practices. This position will chair and sit on academic and curricular committees, as needed, to represent and provide expertise on advising and student support policies and their implementation. The Associate Dean will interact with a wide range of high-level administrators and Deans across the University, including advocating on behalf of students with academic requirement issues and/or those individuals who have self- identified disabilities. The Associate Dean will manage and provide mentorship and development opportunities to the team of Assistant Deans, Directors, Assistant Directors, and Advisors who work in CAS student advising

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Doctoral Degree

    Required Experience:
    7+ years experience in academic administration.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Confidentiality; diplomacy and tact; an ability to be fair, yet firm; patience for managing complicated academic situations involving students and faculty; ability to make decisions under pressure consistently and yet individualized; accuracy; attention to detail.

    Additional Information

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to USD $175, New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
