    We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field. Our Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the mechanical design of our cutting-edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. Most of our products are custom, so most designs start from a blank canvas. You'll create conceptual designs for internal and external approval, work with multi-discipline engineering teams to obtain inputs, and produce drawings to drive procurement and operations. You'll support the product through the design and development phase, through production, and throughout the product lifecycle.     • Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and typically 14+ years of experience in Aerospace/Defense with 4+ years of relevant technical leadership
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Advance experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Experience leading the development, maturation, and approval of product level designs
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance

    • Preferred:

  • Typically 20+ years of closely related experience in Aerospace & Defense Industry
  • Experience with FAA/Military Airworthiness Certification
  • Integration/modification background including reverse engineering of aircraft structures
  • Leading of multi-functional teams with experience in electrical, systems, structural, manufacturing, and related disciplines
  • Experience developing and managing product level requirements
  • Experienced with Agile project management
  • Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis
  • Experience with CATIA 3DExperience
  • Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
  • Familiarity with industry standard drafting standards per ASME Y14.100 or the DRMs
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering practices to include 3D scanning and hand-surveying
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing (3D printing)
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

    Estimated Starting Salary Range: $138, $190, SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

    SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

    SNC offers a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and .

    This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
