    Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do:

    TranSystems is seeking an Environmental Scientist Intern to support our Ohio Area on a variety of planning and design projects.

    In addition to an environmental/science background, a candidate for this position should have strong listening and communication skills with the ability to learn and apply environmental and regulatory knowledge in assisting more experienced environmental scientists in meeting clients' environmental clearance and regulatory needs in the areas of transportation.

    Additionally, the ideal candidate is someone who is motivated, eager to learn, a team player, and takes pride in their work.


    Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):
    Assist with environmental field investigation (wetland delineation, Cultural Resources, and noise analysis). Field Investigation may involve travel to remote locations for multiple days. Environmental planning including desktop reviews, NEPA document preparation, and other technical writing. Perform in a team environment with Engineers, Planners, and Environmental Scientists.

    Receive instructions from a Project Manager as to the assigned tasks, budget for tasks, and general deliverables necessary to meet client expectations.

    Asks questions if task assignments aren't clear.

    Represent the Environmental Team in both internal project status meetings and by supporting Project Managers at external meetings with clients.

    Keep Project Manager informed of design status and any potential impacts to project schedule, scope, or required effort. Grow professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies. These activities can be accomplished in person or virtually, if needed.

    Qualifications What you bring to our firm:

    Pursuing or received a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a related field from an accredited university Proficient in Microsoft Office Willing to work in the field and travel remotely Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment 0-2 years of experience Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

    What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:
    Currently a junior or Master's student in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a related field from an accredited university Familiarity with ESRI Arc products Experience with environmental regulations and/or wetland science plant biology Experience with soil morphology Willingness to take on new skills
