    Position Summary:
    The Associate Director-Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations, strategic planning, performance metrics monitoring and KPI's, budget and developing talent.

    Responsibilities:
    • Contribute to the development and execution of the manufacturing plant's strategic plan, aligning operational objectives with overall organizational goals.
    • Provide input on long-term manufacturing strategies, including capacity planning, technology adoption, and process improvements.
    • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency targets.
    • Collaborate with department heads and team leaders to streamline workflows and optimize production processes.
    • Foster effective communication and collaboration between various departments, including production, quality control, engineering, and logistics.
    • Work closely with other functional areas to address interdepartmental challenges and promote a cohesive and integrated approach to manufacturing.
    • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPI's) to assess plant performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement data-driven decision-making processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall operational performance.
    • Lead and develop a high-performance team by providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
    • Contribute to the development and management of budgets, ensuring financial goals align with operational objectives.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize resource allocation and reduce operational expenses.
    • Ensure the manufacturing plant's compliance with regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and quality assurance protocols.
    • Oversee the implementation of quality measures, supporting the development and maintenance of a robust quality management system.
    • Demonstrate experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and/or hold a Black Belt certification, applying these principles to drive continuous improvement, eliminate waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
    Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    • 8+ years managing teams in a manufacturing and warehousing environment.
    • Chemical process, biotechnology, food, fermentation, or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Strong planning, scheduling, and time management skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong team skills, including ability to coach/develop work teams, provide training, motivate/empower others, and resolve conflict.
    Education, Training, Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related field of study and at least 8 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing industry OR
    • Master's Degree and at least 6 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing industry OR
    • A PhD and at least 4 years' experience in a regulated manufacturing industry.
    • At least 3 years of management experience.
    • Lean Six Sigma Training.
    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
    • Majority of work is conducted in a fermentation production facility and includes frequent exposure to wet, humid, dusty, and noisy conditions.
    • Work includes lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing, walking, as well as occasional scooping, kneeling, or crouching.
    • May be exposed to airborne particles and chemicals used in fermentation production facilities.
    Safety Requirements:
    • Mandated use of company-issued uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
