    Speech-Language Pathologist


    Job Summary:

    • Identify students with speech, language and communication disorders requiring related services as part of the NJ Special Education Code process.
    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of the problem presented by each child identified.
    • Plan and conduct speech and language therapy that is individualized, data driven and multiculturally sensitive and diverse. Maintain data to show efficacy of treatment.
    • Case manage (i.e. develop I.E.P.s, be a liaison for parents and teaching staff) students with a ESLS classification including students at Preschool level.
    • Be an active member and contributing member of the Child Study Team.
    • Contribute to the development of I.E.P.s for students receiving speech and language as a related service by creating goals and objectives that are clear, concise and measurable.
    • Confer with parents and disseminate written reports of student's therapeutic progress.
    • Provide strategies that will aid special and general education teachers and other staff to help facilitate communication and generalize skills within the classroom setting.
    • Upon request, conduct parent training or provide strategies to aid in generalization and facilitate communication in natural settings.

    Requirements:

    • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Masters degree in Communication Disorders from accredited program.
    • Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with Speech/Language Specialist endorsement.
    • Must have demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education.
    • Prior experience with developing student IEP programs in accordance with the NJ Special Education code. IEP Direct experience helpful.
