Description:

Fitter is responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts within the hull of a ship, positioning them for riveting or welding. Tasks include laying out part positions, marking reference lines, aligning parts, marking hole locations, and installing temporary fasteners. They may also work on nonstandard parts, prepare molds and templates, and tack weld before permanent welding. Additionally, they perform tasks such as rolling, bending, flanging, cutting, and shaping heavy metal parts.
