    Position Description

    Summers-Taylor, Inc., the primary heavy and highway construction contractor in Northeast Tennessee, established since 1932, engages in various projects, from interstate highways to commercial developments and residential construction.     Job Summary

    The Class I or II Mechanic undertakes general and preventative maintenance services and related repairs on machinery and equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining update schedules for all road tractors and trailers, conducting weekly equipment checks, monitoring equipment condition, and identifying repair needs. The role may involve field service and operates during the second shift.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct general maintenance on machinery and equipment
    • Ensure timely completion of work orders
    • Maintain adherence to preventative maintenance schedules
    • Manage tools, equipment, and inventory
    • Keep accurate records of job hours/materials
    • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills
    • Inspect machinery for proper functionality
    • Perform assigned duties as necessary

    Education and Experience

    • Completion of 2 years in trade or vocational school
    • 3-5 years' experience in general maintenance within a manufacturing or warehouse setting
    • Hold OSHA 10 certification and possess sound safety knowledge
    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and quality
    • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities
    • Detail-oriented with task prioritization skills
    • Proficient in troubleshooting and tool operation
    • Openness to learning new skills and methods
    • Meet physical requirements for the job, including heavy work in varying weather conditions
    • Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
