    Supervises the workforce to operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities in compliance with applicable company policies/procedures, regulations, and law.

    The incumbent will be the licensed operator accountable for drinking water systems.

    This position entails professionalism and independent judgment, and the overall ability to work effectively at all levels, including union environment.

    Coordinate and schedule a variety of maintenance, installation and repair projects for the water and sewer systems in the VEOLIA Water Highlands/West Milford Operations.

    Supervise, inspect, and perform maintenance, repair and installation work to be completed in the water/sewer systems of the VEOLIA Water Highlands/West Milford Operations.

    Receive work orders and complete by determining materials to be used and manpower required.
    Manage PM and CM program (assign

    Assign work orders for issues discovered upon physical inspection and/or due to complaints received directly via customer call center.

    Periodically inspect work in progress by private contractors to verify quality of work and ensure they stay within budget.

    Order material and equipment needed to perform installation and repair.
    Partner with the Engineering Department in the prioritization of the Capital Projects.
    Partner with EHSS to conduct periodic safety and training programs.
    Safety monitoring of crews at work site.
    Prepare reports as required by VEOLIA and all regulatory agencies.

    Ability to respond to emergency calls and work extended hours as needed (the incumbent must be member of VEOLIA Water Highlands/West Milford Operations emergency callout rotation).

    Sets the tone for safety and housekeeping.
    Perform other projects/tasks/duties as assigned.
    AS/BS degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

    The incumbent requires a minimum of two years' experience in the construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of drinking water systems; a minimum of two years of supervision experience is preferred.

    Oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices.
    Read and interpret drawings, GIS, and work specifications.
    Work independently, use good judgment and make sound decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
    Estimate material, equipment, and labor costs.
    Knowledge of systems and software programs including GIS and asset management (CMMS).

    Strong knowledge of methods, practices, procedures, materials, and equipment associated with the construction, maintenance, and repair of water systems.

    Ability to safely handle chemicals, manage inventory to ensure adequate supply in on hand.
    Knowledge of electrical, instrumentation and control (SCADA) systems.
    Strong mechanical aptitude.
    Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering plans and drawings and GIS mapping.
    Ability to effectively interact with customers, contractors and State and Local Agencies.
