    Your Role With Us:

    As a vascular sonographer you will provide direct and indirect care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Services department, and throughout the hospital.

    Core Functions:

    • Provides direct and indirect care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Services Department and other areas in the hospital
    • Performs carotid, arterial, and venous vascular ultrasound procedures.
    • Able to perform abdominal and transcranial Doppler procedures or be able to perform within 6 months of moving into this position.
    • Conducts testing under the indirect supervision of a vascular physician
    • Positions patient to maximize effectiveness of image and minimize patient discomfort
    • Adjusts equipment controls and modifies images during the exam to demonstrate anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and/or pathology accurately
    • Operates equipment in m-mode, 2D, and spectral Doppler and color Doppler techniques
    • Prioritizes and coordinates patient care and/or services with team members
    • Participates in the assessment and development of department and hospital related projects

    Background/Expertise:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Graduate from an accredited school of noninvasive cardiovascular technology/ultrasound OR three years recent experience and at least 800 vascular procedures performed
    • Bachelors degree preferred
    • Recent experience as a Vascular Sonographer in a hospital based, cardiovascular non-invasive services department preferred
    • BLS certification required
    • RVT or RVS certification or eligible for RVT or RVS certification and completion within six months of hire required
    • Oregon Practice of Sonography license (OBMI) required
