    Job Description

    The Laser Operator runs and operates the CNC laser to fabricate quality parts in an efficient timely manner. The Laser Operator loads and unloads parts while inspecting features cut by the laser while detecting any malfunctions in the machine or defects in the parts. This position sets up and runs production while maintaining the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, all while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

    Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following: other duties may be assigned.

    • With training perform all assigned laser operations.
    • Detects and reports any defective product being produced or already produced.
    • Follows all safety procedures while reporting any possible safety issues to the supervisor.
    • Use various inspecting techniques; calipers, micrometers, drop indicators, etc.
    • Completes all paperwork required for each job ran through laser.
    • Detect any irregularity which may cause defective product either through laser consumables or fixtures.
    • Ensure that all preventative maintenance is performed in department in accordance with PM schedule

    Experience:

    • One year certification from college or technical school preferred; 2-5 years of demonstrated experience.
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and blueprints in English is required.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Excellent communication and cooperation
    • Basic computer skills and basic understanding of programming logic

    Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, use hands to finer, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Must frequently lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to drive and operate a Forklift
