    The Roanoke City/Alleghany Health District is currently seeking an Environmental Health Supervisor for the onsite water and wastewater program to join our team dedicated to protecting and promoting public health.

    The Roanoke City/Alleghany Health District is comprised of the Cities of Roanoke, Salem and Covington and the Counties of Roanoke, Alleghany, Craig and Botetourt.

    This position will be located primarily in the Botetourt County office. This is a working supervisor position requiring DPOR licensure as an Onsite Soil Evaluator.

    In addition to performing field work, this position will be responsible for ensuring productivity and compliance with regulations for all onsite staff, and will be expected to serve as an engaged leader who will support the agency's mission and vision for the onsite water and wastewater program.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the relevant program and ability to provide effective supervision and leadership
    • Certifications of the Environmental Health Specialist Senior are required if performing inspections or evaluations of that level
    • The Environmental Health Technical Specialist certifications are preferred but required if performing the duties
    • Ability to communicate effectively with the public as well as other internal/external partners and staff.
    • Proficient in basic computer software programs as well as CAD or equivalent.
    • Time management skills necessary to meet workload demands.
    • Possess a current DPOR OSE license.
    • Ability to determine program needs and achieve quality improvement in program area.
    • A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
