Research Assistant - New York, United States - The Rockefeller University
Description
Organization OverviewResearch in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, led by Dr. Nathaniel Heintz, aims to identify the genes, circuits, cells, macromolecular assemblies, and individual molecules that contribute to the function of the mammalian brain and to its dysfunction in disease. Understanding the distinct classes of neurons and the circuits that control specific aspects of cognition and behavior can lead to more targeted treatments for central nervous system disorders.
Overview
The project aims to identify molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders, focusing on understanding selective degeneration of vulnerable cell types.

A Bachelor's degree in biology is required; an educational emphasis or background in neuroscience is preferred. The candidate must have some familiarity with a laboratory setting. Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques and experience handling laboratory animals is desired. Candidates must be organized, have good communication skills, and keep accurate notes.
