    Position Summary


    The Mission Systems Technician is responsible for deploying, sustaining, troubleshooting, and repairing standard voice, data, and video network infrastructure systems, IP-based devices, and cryptographic equipment.

    Essential Functions and Competency Statements


    • Creates and maintains library of documentation for all equipment, processes, and procedures including detailed build procedure documents.
    • Checks equipment for serviceability and performs preventive maintenance.
    • Coordinates with internal and external agencies, and other service providers to analyze and isolate performance faults and implement corrective actions.
    • Isolates malfunctions using diagnostic software, technical data, block diagrams, and other tests requiring specialized test equipment.
    • Removing, repairing, and replacing assemblies and subassemblies to optimally sustain voice, data, and video networks.
    • Communicates and coordinates scheduled maintenance, backups, and downtime to users.
    • Participates in regular disaster recovery exercises.
    • Performs end user troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose, and resolve common problems with hosted solutions.
    • Handles and safeguards Communications Security (COMESEC) equipment and material.
    • Fabricate, terminate, and interconnect wiring and associated network infrastructure devices.
    • Troubleshoot network issues involving VLANs and simple routing configurations.
    • Build a system from scratch when all required software and hardware are available.
    • Completes all administratively required forms and documents on schedule.
    • Understands Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).
    • Understands Variable Length Subnet Masking.
    • Must have a clear understanding of the OSI Model with regards to troubleshooting systems and networks.
    • Must have a basic understanding of electrical principles and radio frequencies Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment, identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex matters.
    • Must have the ability to effectively and efficiently initiate, plan, and manage projects as well as ensure that critical tasks are completed timely and thoroughly.
    • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communications skills.
    • Must possess the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
    • Must possess the ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
    Supervisory Responsibility

    This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment


    During deployment, employees will be living under field conditions and must be able to work with little supervision in austere or arduous environments.

    Work environment varies widely based on geographic location of contract operations.

    Physical Demands

    This position has the following physical ability requirements.

    Expected Hours of Work

    The daily working hours for this position vary Monday through Sunday. Hours and work shifts may vary in accordance with business needs. You will be scheduled to forward deploy/work approximately 60-75 days OCONUS followed by rotation off-site for approximately 60-75 days. Rotation schedule might be adjusted in order to meet program requirements.

    Travel requirements are 50% - OCONUS deployment

    Required Education, Experience and Certificates


    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Management, Aviation, Engineering, or 8+ years of related work experience.
    • Experience: 10+ years of aviation management experience.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    • Valid Driver's License
    • Must have a current US Passport

    Computer Skills:

    • Microsoft Office Suite
    Preferred Education, Experience, and Certificates


    • Education: Master's degree in Management, Aviation, Engineering or 12+ years of related work experience.
    • Experience: 4+ years of prior overseas rotation experience.
    Additional Eligibility Qualifications


    • Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little or no assistance.
    • Must have good command of the English language; oral and written.
    Work Authorization/Security Clearance


    • Employee must be a US citizen.
    • Employee must be able to hold and maintain a Top Secret (or higher) Clearance Level
