    Description

    This position will have overall responsibility for coordinating all aspects of surgical procedures for the Surgery Department, both plastics and mohs. The Surgical Coordinator Person must be able to multi-task, juggle shifting priorities and show a willingness to learn about products and procedures offered in the practice. This position will work 8 hours on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.

    Duties include:

    • Performs phone consults with patients to be scheduled for surgery which includes obtaining a history, securing a date/time for surgery, reviewing pre-op instructions, and mailing a surgical packet to the patient.
    • Management and oversight of the surgical and procedure schedule for the Mohs and/or Plastic Surgery division of FWDC and FWPSA.
    • Monitoring and maintaining various assigned task lists
    • Answering phone calls from the surgical queue and responding to voicemails.
    • Uploading patient photos from email and/or the office cell phone.
    • Assist with escalated patient medical issues & emergencies as they arise
    • Checking outpatients after procedures and scheduling post-op appointments.
    • Assisting surgical staff with the cleaning and sterilizing of instruments.
    • Taking the initiative to call patients back to the exam room if the surgical staff is delayed.
    • Assist physician and clinical staff by responding to the bell alert if something is needed in the procedure room.
    • Assures all patient signatures for quotes/ policies and deposits are in place prior to booking plastic surgical procedures when applicable.
    • Follows up on all medical clearances; assures time to obtain clearance / all labs/ EKG's, mammograms, and chest X-rays are available for review at or before clearance.
    • Assuring surgical procedures are booked with attention to detail for patient prep times and physician travel time from facility to facility.
