Responsibilities in this Role:

In this position as an Occupational Therapist (OT) on a Per Diem basis, you will conduct evaluations, provide therapies, and carry out treatments as prescribed by a licensed physician. Your goal is to help individuals recover functionality and prevent disability after injury, illness, or physical impairment. You'll assist patients in maximizing their performance and capabilities, ensuring they can adapt to their circumstances effectively.

Take on the responsibility for the care of patients undergoing treatment, including Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehab technicians, and OT students. You may also be tasked with training new staff and students, stepping into a supervisory role when necessary.
Assess patients' needs, initiate suitable therapy interventions, and collaborate with the patient care team to uphold professional standards and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Monitor treatment progress, goal achievement, and recommend adjustments to the treatment plan as required.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, administer necessary tests, and ensure timely and accurate documentation. The focus is on adult and geriatric patients requiring specialized medical rehab services.
Address patient pain issues, intervene appropriately to alleviate discomfort, and communicate with physicians when necessary.
Deliver patient care in a safe environment, prioritize safety, and minimize healthcare errors. Keep the patient's family informed and engaged in the care process.
Document patient progress, potential barriers to discharge, and participate in patient team conferences.
Develop educational plans based on patient needs, involve the family in the learning process, and maintain detailed and accurate records.
Exhibit proficiency in various occupational therapy modalities, handle equipment securely, and ensure departmental cleanliness and safety.
Interact professionally with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and respectful atmosphere.
Stay organized, flexible, and composed under pressure, contributing to a positive work environment and supporting fellow team members.
Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient care and drive performance improvement initiatives.
Participate in training sessions, contribute to staff education, and ensure adherence to documentation standards and safety protocols.
Manage patient charges accurately, adhere to infection control measures, and actively engage in safety programs.
Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating a proactive and committed approach to your role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active Occupational Therapist license in the state of the hospital's location.
Prior experience in occupational therapy is beneficial but not mandatory.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with additional languages viewed favorably.
Certification in CPR/BLS.

Hourly Compensation: $55.00 - Potential for adjustment based on specific circumstances
