    Description

    Job Description:

    The position of Lead Sommelier is to further ensure the integrity of quality standards with primary focus on the satisfaction of Herons guests.

    This position is to further assist management with training of Food and Beverage service staff in wine education, pour controls, and responsible wine and beverage service.

    The Sommelier will need to be able to discuss, buy and serve all kinds of wine. The Sommelier will impress without intimidating. The person needs to be organized in maintaining the wine cellar.


    Job Requirements:
    Minimum introductory level certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent
    Restaurant supervisor coverage when the Restaurant Manager is off or as needed

    Assist management with inspection of service standards in the assigned sections of other service teams and communication of irregularities of service to management.

    Assist in overseeing the wine list, daily stocking and updating as needed.
    Must be well spoken and comfortable talking to customers on wine and food.
    Must be able to make knowledgeable recommendations to suit customers tastes and all price points
    Audit weekly purveyor tastings and meetings to maintain consistency with regards to ordering and pricing.
    Aid in stocking and maintaining all wine storage areas and assist with monthly product inventories.
    Conduct continual wine education for associates.

    Assist in daily functions of Food and Beverage Service to include but not limited to seating and greeting guest, Clearing and resetting tables, food running and descriptions of menu items to guest in all food and beverage outlets.

    Proctor banquet events as needed.

    Physical Requirements:
    Immaculate grooming/presentation and professional attire with clear articulation with speech.
    Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
    Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
    Compensation
    Salary $55,000-$60,000
    Quarterly Bonus potential
