    Description


    The Radiologic Technologist is primarily responsible for operating radiographic equipment to obtain and process radiographs of client anatomy, maintenance of radiographic equipment, and maintaining licensure of equipment.

    Assists with objectives, goals and client services relating to the Tuberculosis Program.

    Examples of Duties


    The following functions represent the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.

    _*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*_ _(__*95% of Time):*_

    • Accountable for maintaining the x-ray room and equipment according to standards.
    • Obtain radiographic imaging per the physician approved protocols and/or physician/APRN orders.
    • Responsible for preparing the x-ray room and providing individuals with recommended protective equipment.
    * maintain the radiology supply inventory. Monitoring badges/devices and maintaining appropriate reports.

    • Maintain client records per guidelines.
    • Handling phone calls, scheduling client appointments, and making reminder calls as needed.
    • Performs clinical service clerical duties as needed.
    • Completing required training in support of duties and responsibilities of this position.
    • Performing other duties as assigned including those required to fulfill activities in support of public health emergency operations.
    • Performing Video Directly Observed Therapy
    _*SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS - NON-ESSENTIAL (5% of Time):*_


    • May review with the TB physician on film quality.
    _*QUALIFICATIONS/


    SPECIFICATIONS:
    *_

    *Education: *Associates degree preferred with two years of training in an accredited hospital. Must be a current student of, or a graduate of, an approved school of Radiologic Technology and Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible.

    *Experience:
    • Two years of experience as a radiologic technologist.
    • Vocational/Technical Education
    • ARRT or ARRT Registry eligible (within one year of hire)
    • BLS (upon hire)
    *Knowledge and Skills:


    • Knowledge of x-ray equipment, anatomy and positioning are essential for quality exam.
    • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
    • Must be able to work independently with little direction and multi-task.
    • Must be able to concentrate and pay high attention to detail.
    • Ability to follow oral and written directions and work effectively with others as a team.
    • Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions
    • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and satisfaction-oriented skills are highly essential.
    • Good reception and telephone techniques.
    • Skills in planning and organization of multiple duties and projects.
    * *Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred*.

    Typical Qualifications

    _*INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:*_

    • Frequent internal contact with public health nurses, TB Physician, and clinical assistants to provide patient x-ray information; and with administrative staff and supervisor to order supplies and seek clarification of policies and procedures.
    • Frequent external contact with external radiology clinics and hospitals to gather medical and x-ray information on clients.
    • Occasional contact with medical suppliers and repair companies to order supplies and request maintenance.
    _*PHYSICAL EFFORT:*_

    Regular physical effort required in lifting medical supplies weighing approximately up to 25 pounds. Work assigned schedule while being punctual.

    _*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY/


    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Direct Supervision – None.

    Indirect Supervision – None.

    Budget/Money/Material – Responsible for assigned equipment.

    Reports to – Manager Tuberculosis.

    _*WORKING CONDITIONS:*_

    Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood, and other bodily fluids. Potential minimal exposure to radiation while operating x-ray equipment.

    _*SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:*_

    • Must maintain THD record confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
    • Must possess ability and willingness to perform job-related travel.
