    McKinley Architecture and Engineering is growing and in need of a full-time Site Civil Engineer, PE to join our team. McKinley Architecture and Engineering is seeking qualified individuals that will be able to acclimate quickly and "hit the ground running". McKinley Architecture and Engineering currently has four offices, Wheeling, Charleston, and Martinsburg, WV & Wexford, PA. This position can be fulfilled from any of our 4 locations.     Our P.E. staff is responsible for developing and leading the process to manage the expression of engineering, design, and project management. They act as a manager to ensure that MKA projects follow the appropriate design vision, participate as a team member on major global projects, and document the objectives, requirements, and recommendations in the MKA standards.

    While this is NOT a remote job, a certain amount of remote work is possible based on employer needs and employee experience level.

    Job Description Summary: The Civil Engineer will focus on the external site development and infrastructure for construction projects primarily for buildings. This Professional will be primarily responsible for the design of site improvements, grading, and storm and sanitary systems.

    1. Contribute to initial planning and site analysis. This includes performing site visits, coordinating and reviewing survey data, utility restrictions, geotechnical, environmental factors, governmental and zoning regulations, code and client requirements and prepare reports thus;

    2. Collaborate with team members to develop initial concepts through hand sketching and use of Autodesk products and other design software and processes for design of the site civil portion of projects for review by the design team and client;

    3. Use similar methods to incorporate site design concepts into design documents to produce Drawings and Specifications for bidding and construction;

    4. Contribute in the development of Requests-for-Proposals for specialty site investigation entities and lead Client and team in soliciting and recommendations for contracting of these surfaces including but not limited to: boundary and topographic survey geotechnical, archeological, environmental and wetlands/stream consultants;

    5. Perform site inspections during construction, documenting progress and conditions and corrective work required;

    6. Support Construction Contract Administration activities;

    7. Prepare cost estimates for civil related items to inform design service proposals and owner construction cost budgets and estimates and review and comment to Bid and Change Order proposals from contractors;

    8. Preparation of site specific permit applications for Stormwater, Sanitary Systems, DEP and Corp of Engineer permitting required for planned site development; and

    9. Other tasks as assigned.

    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field
    • Six to 20 years of experience as a P.E. in site civil design of buildings or similar structures;
    • Ability to immediately attain P.E. Registration in West Virginia and additional state registrations as required.
    • Strong design skills with proficiency in Autodesk products and other computer-aided design software;
    • Ability to understand, develop, and communicate design concepts quickly through verbal and written communication and hand sketches.
    • Ability to perform all civil site design services in accordance with the Standard of Care.
