    The candidates need to have clinical blood banking skills. Specifically, how to perform a blood type, antibody screen, and crossmatch. Experience working with the NEO, Galileo, or Echo is a plus. Antibody identification is also another HUGE bonus. Working in a blood donor center does not automatically qualify someone for this position. That type of testing is vastly different than blood banking or transfusion service.
    This position is working on items for Europe, testing the products for submission. They will be trained on the testing process. Physically testing reagents from blood donors.

    Industry/companies preference:
    specifically, clinical work in a hospital blood bank

    Educational background:
    MLT or an MT Science degree okay with Blood bank experience

    Description
    Performs a variety of tasks and functions associated with the formulation of products from raw material and the associated production testing of products (including instruments)

    Duties:

    1) Performs serological (including potency, specificity, reactivity, assays) and chemical evaluations (protein, absorbance, chloride, osmolality, pH, EDTA) of client products according to department procedures
    2) Performs administrative aspects of tasks including the required recording of test results according to department procedures, quality plans/device master records, and/or work instructions (job orders)
    3) Performs inventory control tasks of in-process components or products
    4) Prepares chemical solutions, reagents, calibrators and/or standards according to laboratory procedures, including liquid and dry measurements, labeling and mixing components according to the SOP
    5) Operates, cleans and maintains department equipment according to department protocols including computers, printers, incubators, centrifuges, mechanical shakers, washing devices, pH meter, analytical balance, spectrophotometer, recording temperatures and sisposal of biohazard waste, etc.
    6) Performs processing of raw material through the techniques of defibrination, absorption of contaminating antibodies, decalcification and extraction of material
    7) Performs chemical analysis of product including calcium and chloride titration, refractive index, protein, osmolarity, conductivity and pH
    8) Performs clerical checks for co-workers including verification of volumes, selection of correct products before pooling, etc.
    9) Performs routine maintenance including recording temperatures, cleaning, centrifuge maintenance, and disposal of contaminated waste

    Responsibilities:

    1) Performs serological tests according to department procedures and completes tasks within procedure- or department-defined timeframes (meets responsibility 96% of time),
    2) Creates legible written records according to procedure/work-instruction-defined protocols and time frames (meets responsibility 99% of time).
    3) Accurately calculates amount of in-process components or products received, used, or rejected. (meets responsibility 99% of time),
    4) Follow applicable laboratory OSHA regulations with respect to chemical hazards, blood-borne pathogens, etc. (responsibility 100% of time),
    5) Performs equipment maintenance and/or calibration and temperature monitoring in a timely manner according to applicable procedures (meets responsibility 99% of time)
    6) Understands FDA and ISO standards applicable to the department and consequences of nonconformance (meets responsibility 80% of time)
    7) Meets achievement levels established for competency evaluations (responsibility levels defined by competency procedures),
    8) Follows applicable company procedures for the documentation of training of new employees (meets requirements 95% of the time)
    9) Understands source, composition and characteristics of products and associated chemical and biosafety hazards (meets responsibility 90% of the time),
    10) Maintains a neat and clean work environment (meets responsibility 95% of time),

    11) Interacts cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors or managers of other departments and receives direction well from superiors (meets responsibility 95% of time).
