    Linux Engineer (Level 3 Support with AIX)

    Location: Irving, TX

    Employment Type: Full Time

    Experience Level: 4-8 Years

    Role Overview:

    • Recommended 4-7 years of experience, strong candidates may be considered with less experience.
    • Proficiency in managing IBM and Solaris Hardware.
    • Skilled in Operating System Upgrades and Patching.
    • Experience in designing and implementing automated tests.
    • Ability to create clear documentation.
    • Expertise in handling VIOs Control Domain and Hardware management consoles.
    • Knowledge in Storage and Network technologies.
    • Proficiency in setting up and managing live partition mobility for LDOMs LPARS.
    • Testing new product releases.
    • Experience with Ansible automation.
    • Configuration and management of high availability and business continuity.
    • Knowledge of AIX VIOS Solaris and RedHat Linux operating systems.
    • Focus on configuration governance in a broad environment.
    • Analytical and disciplined problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and objectively.
    • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
    • Proactive approach to patching VIOs Control Domains and Hardware management consoles.
    • Proactive firmware upgrades on frames and Hardware management consoles.
    • 24/7 Support for production issues, including Frames, VIOs Control Domains, Hardware management consoles, and guest operating systems.
    • Remote assistance for hardware replacements in coordination with hardware support vendor.
    • Management of IBM OnPrem Cloud Power Enterprise Pools 2.0 and Cloud Management Console.
    • Creation and management of Ansible playbooks in raw mode with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) using Jenkins for automation tasks in AIX and Solaris Tower.
    • Capacity Planning for IBM Power Frames and Solaris Frames to ensure workload balance and performance within defined limits.
    • Follow JIRA processes for tracking new VTMs via Skybox test in Engineering Lab and publishing RFT and RFP for AIX VIOS HMC and Solaris.
    • Manage CAP RE process for unreleased VTMs.
    • Provide Engineering support to AIX and Solaris Systems Administration teams.
    • Assist Cyber Security Engineering in implementing upgraded security agents.
    • Storage SAN allocation from VIOS Control Domains to LPARS LDOMS.
    • Storage Migrations: Unmap Map devices from VIOS Control Domains to LPARS LDOMS.
    • Troubleshoot SAN Network issues managed via VIOS and Control Domains.
    • Support for Disaster Recovery.
    • Consolidations and migrations of Frame LPAR LDOMs including LPM Offline.
    • Remote assistance with hardware upgrades such as CPU memory.
    • Support for Data center facility changes, Frame relocations.
    • Support for Network and storage changes for Frames, VIOs Control Domains, Hardware Management Consoles.
    • Decommission of Frames, VIOs Control Domains, Hardware Management.
    • Configuration of new site data center Frame VIO domain controllers.
    • Installing PODs, adding frames.
    • Technology Refresh: validating new frame configurations.
    • Physical Frames provisioning with configuration testing checks.
    • Documenting Frame Networking, cabling, Storage, switch ports.
    • Coordinating Frame provisioning as per standard procedures.
    • Validating Frame infrastructure configurations.
    • In-place upgrades for VIOS Control Domain Operating Systems and RHEL Unix servers patching.
    • Providing BAU support for Uplogix Lantronix out-of-band management devices, including break-fix management and incident response.
