    Job Description

    Continental and Aurora have partnered to bring self-driving technology on a commercial scale by jointly developing, manufacturing, and servicing future generations of the Aurora Driver's hardware.

    Summary

    Initiate, develop and implement advanced automation equipment for new products. Assume manufacturing process ownership for existing and new products. Initiate and lead manufacturing continuous improvement activities to meet and exceed specific measurable goals for department safety, quality, productivity, scrap reduction and up time.

    Core Responsibilities
    • Responsible for input into design and development of advanced automation equipment and process technologies in automotive manufacturing applications.
    • Install, calibrate, operate, or maintain robots and/or automation equipment.
    • Incorporates Simple / Robust into equipment design for highest equipment reliability.
    • Responsible for process documentation, Setup Matrix / Parameter Cards / Work Instructions / Process Guides.
    • Perform MSA, MCA, and GRR studies for equipment qualification and release
    • Maintain and improve equipment software
    • Write algorithms or programming code for ad hoc robotic applications.
    • Works with equipment integrators and cross-plant support teams to determine application specific automation and process requirements.
    • Provides new product build support through tooling development and procurement.
    • Responsible for training on new automation equipment.
    • Supports Customer Audits and Visits through knowledge and process sharing.
    • Supports TPM program by providing mentoring and training to peers, technicians and operator personnel.
    • Identifies and documents projects in CBS, 8D, and 5
    • Provides lessons learned input to design / development through DFM, Design for Manufacturing, reviews.
    • Supports activities for OEE, Scrap, Yield and DPMO improvement to support plant performance metrics.
    • Advanced manufacturing line problem solving related to manufacturing process related defects.
    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications
    • Relevant Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline
    • Minimum 2 years experience in Robotics & Automation
    • Knowledge of PLC's
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience leading projects

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens S7 or equivalent PLC's
    • Experience with collaborative robot interfaces with equipment
    • Minimum 5 years experience in Robotics & Automation Programming & Development including PLC Programming. Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience leading teams
