    Job Description:
    The Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist plays a vital role in the Mount Yonah Medical Billing (MYMB) System of Care, reporting directly to the VOB Supervisor.

    Main Responsibilities:
    1. Analyze VOB relative to the requested treatment.
    2. Confirm eligibility of benefits with private insurance companies over the phone.
    3. Review and monitor assigned accounts and collection reports.
    4. Input accurate VOB data into the system, ensuring understanding of approved claims processes.
    5. Perform other assigned duties.

    Requirements:
    • High School Diploma or GED; AA degree preferred.
    • No felony or substance abuse convictions within the past five years.
    Knowledge and Training Required at Time of Hire:
    • Two years of continuous sobriety prior to hire for recovering alcoholics or drug addicts, with participation in a self-help program.
    • Minimum one year of administrative experience, preferably with medical billing experience in mental health and substance abuse fields.
    • Familiarity with insurance submittals procedures and medical forms and coding.
    • Strong problem-solving, follow-through, and analytical skills.
    • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and other medical collections software.
    • Attention to detail with an eye for accuracy.
    • Creative, self-disciplined, and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency.
    • Able to communicate clearly and concisely over the phone.
