    • Position Summary
      • This position provides 24 hour managerial and clinical support to patients and staff. Uses depth and breadth of clinical management knowledge to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, and cost effective patient care. Demonstrates clinical expertise and oversees the leadership of clinical, financial, and personnel management of the assigned areas.
    • Minimum Qualifications
      • Education
        • Must possess BSN or MSN with a plan to complete MSN.
      • Credentials
        • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
        • Board Certification
        • BLS certification is required.
        • Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
    • Physical Demands
      • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
      • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.
      • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.
      • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
      • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair.
      • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
      • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
      • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
      • May require periodic use of personal computer.
    • Essential Functions
      • Manages and facilitates patient centered nursing care for designated patient populations by serving as a real-time clinical resource for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem-solving on patients, processes, and family issues. Manages the operations of the unit to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and resource utilization.
      • Manages the operations of the cross departmental units to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and resource utilization.
      • Leads change by developing, implementing and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives of the department in conjunction with nursing leadership. Seeks and utilizes input from staff and oversees change implementation. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies, develops policies and procedures.
      • Facilitates nurse strategic planning, communication of system, regional, facility and department initiatives.
      • Manages and develops the operational and capital budgets and use of associated resources, ultimate budget responsibility.
      • Assures the development of staff leadership through the design of effective shared governance leadership models and supports career advancement opportunities. Functions as a role model and encourages staff to participate in their own development.
      • Responsible for selection, orientation, on-boarding, and retention. Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities to create a culture of learning.
      • Covers for house supervisor and other directors/managers.
