    New Graduates
    New registered nurse (RN) graduates' benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. IU Health Bedford is a Critical Access hospital serving Lawrence and surrounding counties.

    Our Medical Surgical unit contains 25 semi-private beds, and cares for a variety of conditions for all adult patients.

    The nurses on this unit administer medications, monitor vital signs, change dressings, educate patients about their procedures, and coordinate patient care plans with other healthcare professionals.


    Unit Culture:
    Operating and tracking medical equipment
    Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists
    Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
    Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
