Primary Function

Cloud Data Engineer is responsible for any technological duties associated with cloud computing, including design, planning, management, maintenance and support.

This would include migration of projects from an on-prem platform to cloud setting.

Principal Duties:

Data Modeling:
Design and implement data models that align with business requirements.
Create and maintain schema objects such as databases, tables, views, and stored procedures in Snowflake.

ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Processes:

Develop and implement ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into the desired format, and load it into Snowflake.

Utilize Snowflake's features like Snowpipe for real-time data loading.

Integration with Other Systems:
Integrate Snowflake with other data storage and processing systems, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Implement data pipelines to move data seamlessly between systems.

Performance Optimization:
Optimize queries and data loading processes for performance.
Tune and enhance data warehouse performance through indexing, partitioning, and clustering strategies.

Security and Access Control:
Implement and manage security measures, including role-based access control, encryption, and authentication in Snowflake.
Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Set up monitoring tools and alerts to identify and address issues promptly.
Troubleshoot data-related problems and optimize performance as needed.

Documentation:
Maintain documentation for data models, ETL processes, and system configurations.
Create and update documentation to ensure that data engineering processes are well-documented and easily understandable.

Collaboration with Data Analysts and Data Scientists:
Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to understand their requirements and provide the necessary data infrastructure and support.

Data Governance:
Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency.
Work towards maintaining data lineage and metadata management.

Continuous Learning and Skill Development:
Stay updated with the latest features and updates in Snowflake.
Continuously improve skills in data engineering, cloud computing, and related technologies.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in an analytical or quantitative discipline.

Three to Four years of experience as an analyst in a financial setting (a graduate degree may be considered in lieu of work experience).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong business communication skills with an ability to work well in a collaborative environment.

Strong attention to detail and an ability to multi-task, respond well to pressure and deadlines, and work well individually and in a collaborative environment.

Strong skills in Excel, SQL, SnowFlake, SQL Server, Cloud platforms, Python, Snaplogic is a plus.
Fast learner - able to assimilate new ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Prior work experience performing business, data, and/or statistical analysis is a plus.
