    Position: Scientist in Polymer Synthesis for Protein-Polymer Bioconjugates

    Overview: Seeking a skilled Scientist with expertise in polymer synthesis to join our clients team. This role involves creating and implementing innovative processes for protein-polymer bioconjugation. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in polymer chemistry and experience at the chemistry-biology interface.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Bioconjugation Development:
    • Independently design and execute complex polymerization processes.
    • Oversee all stages from reagent preparation to reaction monitoring and purification.
    • Scale up and optimize developed processes.
    • Data Analysis and Presentation:
    • Utilize advanced software and statistical tools for data interpretation.
    • Maintain accurate records in adherence to company policies.
    • Knowledge Transfer and Leadership:
    • Coach and cultivate scientific talent within the team.
    • Lead training sessions on methodologies and techniques.
    • Review colleagues' work for robust documentation and protocols.
    • Collaboration and Strategic Influence:
    • Engage with cross-functional teams in R&D and Quality.
    • Make informed decisions based on thorough data analysis.
    • Contribute to project direction and leadership.
    • Continuous Professional Development:
    • Stay abreast of the latest scientific publications and methodologies.
    • Participate in relevant conferences and training sessions to enhance knowledge.
    • Regulatory Compliance and Lab Safety:
    • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Ensure adherence to safety requirements and regulatory guidelines.
    • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment.

    Qualifications:

    • PhD in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry with 0-5 years of industry/post-doctoral experience.
    • Proficient in controlled radical polymerization methods like ATRP or RAFT.
    • Experience with analytical and purification techniques such as chromatography, NMR, and size-based filtration processes.
    • Experience in scaling polymerization processes from small to large volumes.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to act as a subject matter expert and mentor for team members.
    • Creative and autonomous in a preclinical development setup.
    • Familiarity with laboratory techniques, including handling reagents and operating under inert atmosphere.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills for fostering positive relationships.
    • Knowledge of safety and health regulations.
    • High ethical and confidentiality standards.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

    Job Specifics:

    • Permanent, full-time position.
    • Must be eligible to secure approval from the Department of Defense for Controlled Unclassified Information.
    • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with core hours from 10:00 am ET to 3:00 pm ET. Flexible hours beyond this timeframe.
    • Onsite work in Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
    • Physical Requirements: Able to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods, handle delicate instruments, sit or stand for long durations, and lift up to 25 pounds. Clear vision, manual dexterity, and safe handling of hazardous substances are essential.
    • Job Hazards: Potential exposure to animal materials (plasma, serum, blood, organs) and hazardous substances following appropriate training.
