    Description


    Reporting to the Director of Physical Plant, this position is responsible for the management, supervision, and daily execution of building maintenance work orders and deferred maintenance projects in support of plant operations at Hofstra University.

    The incumbent will be a key team member in maintaining the University's operations and maintenance program.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Provides direct oversight on capital projects performed by the University's in-house Trades staff, including preparing budget estimates, issuing construction documents, and providing overall project coordination with other university departments.

    Manages relationships with vendors, and contractors in association with departmental projects.
    Oversees campus electrical systems, plumbing, sanitation, masonry, painting, emergency power equipment, snow removal, and building envelope assessments.

    As a project team member, provides technical support to architects and outside consultants on major capital construction projects performed by the Department's Engineering, Design & Construction group; including review of drawing submissions to ensure university requirements for adequacy, accuracy, maintainability, and compatibility with existing systems.

    Provides technical support and troubleshooting expertise to other university department personnel as needed and is a key member of the University's 24/7 Emergency Response Team.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree is required.
    A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in engineering, construction, and maintenance of building systems.
    Prior experience with all mechanical, electrical, high voltage electrical and operating systems at an academic, research or medical facility.
    Proven experience with managing a union work staff, construction trades, and professional consultants.
    Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver's License.
    Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
    The ability to report to campus 24/7 for campus emergencies.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's Degree is highly preferred.

    Salary/Salary Range
    $100,000 - $110,000

    Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
