    Requirements / Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications: 1. Associates (AA) degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders, or graduation from a speech-language assistant program. 2.

    Current registration as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant issued by the California Speech Language Pathology & Audiology Board; prior SLPA experience in educational or clinical settings is preferred.

    3. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences. 4.

    Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations of students, co-workers, parents and other employees of the organization.

    5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure; compute rate, ratios, percent. 6. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in routine situations. 7. Ability to communicate and interact with staff, students, parents and others in an open, friendly, business-like manner. 8. California Driver's License required by the first day of service.

    Brief Description of Position: 1.

    Conducts speech and language screenings, without interpretation, and uses screening protocols developed by the Language, Speech, and Hearing Pathologist 2.

    Provides direct treatment assistance to students 3. Documents student progress toward meeting established objectives and reports the information to therapist 4. Assists the therapist during assessments by assisting with documentation and performing clerical duties 5. Adapts or modifies instructional materials and/or equipment as determined by student needs and abilities 6. Observes and reports significant behavioral patterns or other problems to the therapist 7. Prepares various teaching materials such as charts, pictures, word lists, and other related items 8.

    Assures the health and safety of students by following health and safety rules; assists students regarding the building of self-esteem and development of a value system; assist students by providing proper modeling, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.

    The following must be received in order to be considered: 1) Edjoin application; 2) Resume; 3) Three (3) letters of recommendation within the past year; 4) Verification of current registration as a Speech Language pathology Assistant (SLPA) issued by the California Speech Language Pathology and Audiology board.

    Fingerprinting for the purpose of conducting a background clearance will be required prior to employment.

    To comply with the Immigration Reform & Control Act of 1986, all new employees must provide proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
