    University Cancer & Blood Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician MLT to join our team You will be responsible for performing medical tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. We are hiring multiple positions full time/part time/PRN position for our Athens location. Hours can vary. Primarily 12-16 hours a week.

    The Medical Lab Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) reports to the Lab Manager and processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource as needed. Specific responsibilities include:

    Responsibilities

    · Responsible for performing moderate and high-complexity testing.

    · Performs quality control procedures and instrument checks.

    · Notifies providers of critical lab values.

    · Meets current documentation standards and policies.

    · Follows standard precautions at all times.

    · Manages and operates laboratory equipment safely and correctly.

    · Demonstrates knowledge of new testing methods, products, instrumentation; remains informed on all current technologies.

    · Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

    Qualifications

    · Associates degree, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; graduate of accredited school of medical laboratory technician or technologist

    · Registered in accordance with an approved certifying agency such as ASCP or AAB

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.).

    FT or PT hours are available. Hours of operation M-F 7a to 8pm.
