Blood Bank Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT)

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Blood Bank Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) in a day shift, PRN role.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.

Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.

Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care providers.

Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards by supporting organizational priorities.

Evaluate critical laboratory results and exhibit problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues.

Participate in the training/mentoring of new employees, students, or interns, including lectures and bench techniques.

Prioritize and organize workload while assisting other coworkers to maintain productivity.

Practice proper infection control, patient identification, and specimen transport.

Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree or Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, or a chemical, physical, or biological science degree required.

ASCP certification within a specific area, such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), or C(ASCP), preferred.

Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory setting desired.

Blood Bank experience beneficial.
