    POSITION DUTIES

    Maryland Department of Housing and Community Developing is currently recruiting Work Study Student positions to hire college students for several temporary summer internship positions within the Department.     Division of Finance and Administration (Lanham)\r
    \r
    This position serves as a Budget Analyst Intern within the Division of Finance and Administration�Budget Unit and will be responsible for the assisting the budget analysts with the many units in the�Agency's budgeting process of general, special, federal, and reimbursable funds from different�revenue sources. This position will assist other Budget analysts in working closely with program staff�in formulation, submitting and defending a Budget; accounting and reporting multi years expenditures�and encumbrances in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; time allocation�(funding to a PIN level); monitoring actuals against authorized Budget; forecasting spending based�upon trend analysis; coordinate with Procurement, Loan Accounting, Grant Accounting, and General�Accounting in payment processing and management of existing and new grant applications or other�municipal awards; assist with maintenance of the current Budget system (BARS).\r

    Provide support to the Office of the Secretary in all of its functions: The Office of the Secretary (OS) provides leadership, policy direction, and resources to ensure the Department accomplishes its mission and goals. This position will assist with the preparation, set-up, and coordination of events, draft materials, conduct research for special projects, and provide a wide range of administrative and logistical support.\r

    Support the Office of Public Information by photographing events.�Prepare social media posts in conjunction with the Deputy Director of�Communications.�Staff the Secretary and other senior leadership in meetings and at events�by taking notes and ensuring meeting follow-up is conducted.�Travel with the Secretary around the State to provide any additional�support.�Provide other administrative support as necessary\r

    Community Development Administration, Special Loans (Lanham)\r
    \r
    This position: Coordinates the document retention of all loans/grants funded by the Special�Loan Department; Works to insure all aged files have been properly scanned to our digital retention software�(DocuShare); Assists with the purging and destruction of all loans/grants that are older than 36�months after closing; Assists in the onboarding and set-up of all�loan files with current sub-servicer, AmeriNat; Assists with the coordination of single family�direct loan underwriting and closing processes from receipt of loan application to loan closing;�receives and processes pre-closing compliance loan packages from participating Local Agencies;�receives and processes project applications from Non-profit and individual sponsors; prepares�monthly reports for action by Administration, and assists in the development of administrative�procedures to facilitate loan processing.\r

    Neighborhood Revitalization, (Baltimore City)\r
    \r
    This Intern will extract, analyze, synthesize, and generate findings for two years (FY22 and�FY23) of Project Restore grant data. More than 700 grant recipients over two years of the�program will provide progress and final reports. The Intern will ensure reports are submitted and�completed and, if not, work with grantees directly to get the submission. Once reports are�received, the Intern will extract the data from the grants management system, Maryland�OneStop, organize it, identify trends, and produce a final report as the deliverable. The final�report will include visualization of findings through tables, charts, and/or infographics, as�appropriate. Though the focus of this position is on grantee report data, the Intern may provide�other support to program staff, as needed.\r

    Division of Policy, Strategy, and Research (Lanham)\r
    The Graduate Policy Fellow will support strategic planning for the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) during summer 2024 to help develop: (1) the Department's 2025 legislative package submission; (2) the Department's FY2026 budget submission; and (3) the Department's federal Consolidated Plan.\r

    Office of Community Engagement (Lanham)\r
    \r
    This summer internship will assist in the creation of data analytics and reports for all community�engagement activities statewide; including creating spreadsheets, graphs/charts, and various�reports. This position will work closely with the Office of Research and other internal divisions�to track program outcomes and ensure information is submitted accurate and submitted in a�timely manner.\r

    Operations and Administration (Lanham)\r
    \r
    This intern will assist with the fleet and facilities management as well as the admiitrative duties of the Operations and Administration division of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    In order to be eligible for this opportunity, students must have completed freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year in an undergraduate program and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. Students must have at least 30 undergraduate semester credits to be considered.\r

    Relevant College Majors: Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Journalism, Mass Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Liberal Arts, or another related field.\r
