    Position Summary
    The laboratory of Dr. Guglielmetti in the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis is recruiting a Research Technician I to assist with laboratory duties in a research setting and perform routine tests with direction from a supervisor, manager or higher-level technician. The goal of the research performed in Dr. Guglielmetti's laboratory is to develop and validate novel noninvasive imaging methods to investigate the role of the immune system and glial cells in cerebral disorders. There is a particular emphasis on the development of hyperpolarized 13C magnetic resonance spectroscopy in combination with PET/CT imaging in preclinical models of Multiple Sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases. Overall, this research aims to generate an improved mechanistic understanding of the highly complex interplay between the immune system and brain health, as well as set the stage for clinical translation of novel imaging methods.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
    • Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
    • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Working Conditions

    Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
    • Working knowledge of computer software.

    Required Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

    R04-H

    Salary Range
    $16.21 – $21.69 / Hourly

    The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
