    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Sr. Business Objects Developer to join our team supporting our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client.


    This position will work as a member of the Business Objects report development team developing reports which provide critical visibility into processing metrics to all levels of IRS management including executives and the Commissioner.


    PROJECT SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

    • Attend daily scrum meetings and weekly development meetings
    • Coordinate with the project managers/scrum masters/team leads on the status of all development tasks and any risks/issues/impediments
    • Work with Business Analysts to help shape requirements
    • Perform mock ups and/or proof of concepts as needed
    • Perform data analysis and troubleshoot issues
    • Support the setup and configuration of the business objects environment
    • Support universe creation and development
    • Troubleshoot reporting issues in various environments


    Location of work is remote but candidates will ideally be within driving distance to IRS Federal Buildings in Austin, TX, Farmers Branch, TX or Lanham, MD.

    Post COVID, there may be meetings that require in person attendance occasionally.


    PROJECT SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required; an additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for degree
    • At least eight (8) years of related experience
    • Experience with Business Objects Reporting XI 3.x or newer
    • Experience writing complex SQL queries for Oracle 11g
    • Experience developing the Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) universe
    • Data Analysis experience
    • Experience working with the requirements team or end users to shape requirements
    • Experience developing designs and data structures for reporting
    • Experience in optimizing BOE environments
    • Good interpersonal and communications skills
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and time-management skills in an operational environment
    • Excellent attention to detail capability
    • Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision and guidance
    • Ability to work well independently or in a team setting

    Preferred qualifications include:
    Experience supporting IRS projects; other business Intelligence tool experience such as Tableau; experience with data warehouses


    Additional Requirements as per Contract:

    • Candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus).
    • Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant.
    Education and Experience Requirements

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development of software solutions that will meet or exceed business requirements; the development effort includes designing and implementing modules to the system specifications, conducting unit testing, troubleshooting issues and producing detailed proposals to resolve issues.
    • May evaluate new coding techniques, tools, modules, and implementation as appropriate.
    • Lead and mentor entry and mid-level developers.
    • Consult on requirements elicitation and definition.
    • Design software solutions per systems requirements.
    • Code software solutions per designs.
    • Code reviews, unit test, and integrate coded modules.
    • Assist other developers in resolving issues by providing guidance and training.
    • Support testing and remediate defects.
    • Support users through troubleshooting and analysis of production logs and data.
    • Investigate new solutions, tools, products, and techniques to incorporate into coding standards.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or equivalent experience.
    • Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision and guidance.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
