    Unit Assistant Student Intern

    Designated for Students interested in a Healthcare Career Pathway

    Title: Unit Assistant Student Intern

    Status: Casual Temporary, Assignment will last 10 to 12 weeks

    Shift: Days/Shifts Vary, Based on Availability (Minimum of 8 hours/week)

    Location: Greensburg

    Description:
    As a Unit Assistant, supporting the Redstone mission will include the following responsibilities:

    • The Unit Assistant Student Intern will work in assignments that interest the student (Nursing/Activities/Maintenance, etc.).
    • Converses with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and to promote social interaction.
    • Transports residents to/from dining areas. Serves meals to residents in the dining area or in their rooms and assists them in eating. Transports residents back to their rooms or to common areas.
    • Distributes nutrition supplements as directed by the nursing staff.
    • Aids the Therapy and Activities staff with their programs by assisting residents with physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, and recreational games.
    • Observes resident behaviors and notifies appropriate unit personnel of any changes.
    • Distributes ice and water to residents as directed by nursing staff.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
    • Must be a current high school student.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions regarding resident needs, short correspondence, and memos imparting corporate information.
    • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and policies.
