    Description

    ORCirculator Experience Required

    Summary:

    • Providescirculating nurse services in the operating room during surgical orpain management procedures and assists the surgical team as neededin any other capacity, according to established procedures. Thestaffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employeesmay be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected toperform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patientneedschange.
    • Responsibilities:
    • Supervisesand directs patient care in the individual operating /painrooms
    • Performs all circulating dutieswith efficiency and speed
    • Ensurepatient's emotional, physical and psychological needs aremet
    • Ensures that proper techniques andpractices are used according to accepted standards ofpractice
    • Supervises and assists scrubtechnician as necessary
    • Ensures care ofpatient through proper identification, checking of chart, andreporting of changes incondition
    • Performs scrub duties asnecessary Assists in control and maintenance of supplies andequipment
    • Assists theanesthesiologist/CRNA asnecessary
    • Documents all nursing caredelivered in the operating /pain room in the medicalrecord
    • Performs other nursing duties asassigned
    • Maintains establishedCenter/departmental policies andprocedures
    • Maintains confidentiality ofpatient and Center relatedbusiness
    • Develops and maintains aneffective working relationship with patients, families, visitorsand other Center employees
    • Documentsconcisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents asindicated by policy
    • Participates in QualityAssessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement ofpatient care and Center business
    • Abilityto adequately assess, diagnose, plan and implement nursinginterventions and evaluate patient condition Compliance with theattendance policy
    • Compliance withcontinuing and mandatory educationprograms
    • Practices nursing within thescope of the Nurse Practice Act and accepts responsibility andaccountability for own actions
    • Possessesappropriate communication skills to practice collaborativenursing
    • Ability to respond quickly,physically and mentally when priorities and /or the patient'scondition changes

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate ofan accredited school of professionalnursing
    • Licensed to practice in the stateof Texas
    • CNORpreferred
    • Operating room experience(minimum 1 year)
    • Current BLS, ACLSrequired
