    The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Human Resources include assisting the Director of Human Resources with the operations of the Human Resources office, ensure confidentiality and security of records, administer COBRA, DOT drug testing, and FMLA, as well as assisting with projects and reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    A Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and/or significant experience in Human Resources, including payroll and benefits, is preferred.

    Must possess a general knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local government regulations and equal opportunity policies. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

    Must be willing/able to work with a team, possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, with supervisors, faculty and staff.

    Must be able to learn and use computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).

    Must be highly organized, able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently and produce accurate results under pressure and tight deadlines.

    Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to multi-task. Must be dependable, accurately follow instructions, and respond to management direction.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Essential functions include:
    Assure confidentiality and security of records and information;
    Be familiar with MACC policies and procedures as well as applicable federal and state requirements to maintain compliance;
    Coordinate and maintain compliance with quarterly CDL drug and alcohol random DOT testing;
    Coordinate COBRA/retiree insurance continuation notices and track COBRA/retiree insurance correspondence and payments;
    Coordinate and prepare notices and correspondence for FMLA and other types of leave;
    Assist the Director of Human Resources with projects and preparation of internal reports as needed;
    Work with the Human Resources and Payroll Specialists in processing paperwork for new hires, termination, and employee changes;
    Assist with maintaining web directory information and Main Building wall directory;
    Assist with scheduling meetings, interviews, and HR events;
    Assist with annual open enrollment for benefits;
    Perform general clerical duties including typing, faxing, copying, filing, greeting visitors to the office, answering department phone calls, relaying messages;
    Assist in maintaining official job descriptions;
    Assist with conducting background checks;
    File documents into appropriate files in a timely manner;
    File and maintain employment and other HR related records according to MACC, federal, and State of Missouri guidelines for records retention;
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
