    _*POSITION SUMMARY*_


    The Operations Manager assumes responsibility for directing workforce in the day to day operations of the pharmacy fulfillment area and professional growth of the department, contributes to development of policies and programs.

    This position is in the Denver Metro area, but may include travel to other sites as needed. This position will lead and direct strategic planning in production functional areas, logistics, and inventory.

    _*KEY RELATIONSHIPS*_

    The Operations Manager reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager. This position works directly with Production Team Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Fulfillment Technician II, and Inventory Coordinator. This position works in a shared services environment, which includes customer service, order entry, and pharmacists. This position works with team members and management in Pharmacy Operations, Consultant Pharmacists, Consultant Nurses, Billing, and Inventory. This position also works with nurses, doctors, care providers, and patients.

    _*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*_


    • Provide leadership and direction to build effective teams.
    • Implements, maintains and reports on core pharmacy processes.
    • Reviews KPIs based on pharmacy production and quality metrics for continuous improvement.
    • Emphasizes dispensing efficiency, safety and accuracy with team members, and manages the dispensing processes.
    • Manages the staffing and scheduling process to optimize production and contain labor costs.
    • Works directly with Courier Service to meet logistic needs.
    • Supervise team members in a designated functional area, monitoring productivity and quality.
    • Trains team members in their assignments. Facilitates team member professional development by conducting on-the-job training, performance appraisals, and needs assessments. Responsible for recommending and assisting in the development of training curricula.
    • Responsible for overseeing the production workflow process, defining functional area strategies for accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
    • Maintain methods and procedures for achieving customer demand and minimizing cost impacts to pharmacy.
    • Manage and achieve the overall budget for fulfillment, IV, shipping functional areas.
    • Ensure production functional areas are in compliance with laws and regulations regarding inventory control.
    • Safeguard production functional area and contents by establishing and monitoring security protocols.
    • Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within pharmacy operations to ensure set productivity targets are met.
    • Give direction, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
    • Monitor and analyze costs and involved in yearly budget process.
    • Evaluate current policy and procedures and practices to accomplish functional area objectives.
    • Implement improved procedures and practices.
    • Ensure the security of inventory items and supplies.
    • Participate in annual physical inventory counts.
    • Maintain effective communication with customers, co‐workers, management, and other team members.
    • Conducts Gemba and MBWA (Management by Walking Around) to ensure team member safety, address concerns, communicate essential information, and to enforce policy guidelines.
    • Builds and cultivates team member morale, motivation, and loyalty by encouraging participation in pharmacy activities and special events.
    • Develops, reviews, and recommends methods of operational improvement within functional area involving equipment, systems, corrections, activities and practices.
    • Measures performance compliance and requirements and directs appropriate actions by team members and equipment to maintain performance at or above required levels.
    • Manages production functional areas: hours worked and assignments of work

    Daily manages staffing needs:
    PTO, monitors turnover and volume.

    • Participates in team member concerns: reporting, follow up, corrective action.
    • Utilizes and updates system computer applications for proper operation and reports.
    • Within the guidelines of authorized Company policies, programs, procedures, budgets, laws, and good business ethics, directs, coordinates, and controls the activities, plans, and programs of the immediate staff, enforces company policies and procedures.
    • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
    _*EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS*_


    • Bachelor degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Experience required in a supervisory and operations role managing teams
    • Prior experience preferred in long term care and pharmacy.
    • Knowledge of business and financial practices.
    • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma processes.
    • Demonstrated experience required.
    • Knowledge of pharmacy automation and computers required.
    • Proficiency in desktop productivity tools, emphasis on Microsoft Office, including SharePoint.
    • Exhibits professional demeanor and ability to guide production team.
    • Exhibits patience and perseverance when working with production team.
    • Exhibits strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
    • Exhibits excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a strong user support orientation.
    • Exhibits strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Knowledge of pharmaceutical medication and supplies.
    • Knowledge of general carriers, such as UPS and FedEx, systems.
    • Knowledge of storage skills, such as, refrigerated items, outdates, and hazardous materials.
    • Ability to travel to other sites to provide support, as needed.
