    Position Summary

    Incumbent will assist in research procedures in Biosafety Level 2+ (BSL2+ ) containment environment, perform tissue cultures, immunologic assays, flow cytometry, PCR, DNA cloning in expression vectors, analysis and purification of recombinant proteins.

    This position will process infectious agents under BSL2+ laboratory procedures. The incumbent will operate laboratory equipment and computers (word processing/graphing/data analysis and statistics).


    Additionally the Research Professional III will independently design, execute, analyze and interpret complex research experiments in association with the PI and will prepare results for presentations, research grants, proposals and papers.

    Tissue culture and maintenance of cell lines. Responsible for ensuring proper record keeping, sterility, maintenance, storage and safety of culture work.

    Responsible for the day to day management of laboratory, monitor equipment and repair - maintain stocks of research supplies, cell lines, and stocks.

    monitor lab budget. Maintain a complete and detailed record of all experiments. Analyze data. Maintain cell lines strains and plasmid stocks.


    This position is also responsible for contacting vendors for quotes for the Norris lab, submitting orders for the Norris lab in UGAmart, receipting orders, and all others matters related to purchasing in the Norris lab.

    Interviewing and section, orientation and training, and supervision of laboratory personnel including technicians, summer and work study students. Assist in preparation of laboratory safety, animal and recombinant DNA protocols as required by University.
