    Patient Equipment Transporter

    Job Code: 24044

    Shift: Thursday-Saturday 11am-11:30pm (12-hour shifts)

    Position Summary

    Responsible for safely transporting patients and equipment throughout all service areas of the hospital. Delivers, picks up, organizes, stores, cleans and maintains equipment used in patient transport and patient care. Provides excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.

    Responsibilities

    •Physically transfers patients from bed to gurney or bed to wheel chair utilizing proper lift assist techniques and equipment

    •Assists in the bed management process

    •Assists security department by managing the black box process

    •Communicates with clinical staff, patients and co-workers

    •Maintains and stocks portable oxygen

    •Manages rental equipment

    •Assists infection prevention to maintain a safe environment at all times

    •Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

    •Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

    •Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

    Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

    •High school diploma or equivalent preferred

    •Experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferred

    •BLS required

    •MOAB Certification during General Orientation

    Working Conditions

    •Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

    •Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment

    •Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation

    •Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height

    •Must be able to maintain a standing position

    •Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.

    •Typical equipment used in a facilities job

    •Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc
